The MHSCA (Michigan High School Coaches Association) Executive Board and the MWLCA (Michigan Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association) selected Coach Sumner Aldred to receive the honor. Coach of the Year awards are given based on the coaches team performance and/or the coaches contribution to the sport, school, and community.

Coach Aldred also received the Division 1 Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year award by the MWCLA as voted by her peers in June. The MHSCA award presentation will be in Lansing on November 7, 2021.
